What is FASTag?

FASTags are toll collection prepaid rechargeable tags that require automatic payment deduction from the FASTag, typically attached to your vehicle’s windscreen. You won’t have to stop your vehicle at toll plazas to pay the toll with the help of a FASTag. The toll charge will be deducted from the bank account / prepaid wallet attached to the FASTag on the windscreen of the vehicle as soon as the car reaches the toll plaza. On Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) software, and activated FASTtag work. Furthermore, there is no expiry date for these FASTags, that is, they can be used as long as they are readable at the toll plaza and are not manipulated.

The Government of India (GOI) has required all toll plazas, All India, to make electronic toll payments by December 1st, 2019, to minimize vehicle traffic at the toll plaza. All vehicles traveling to and from the toll plaza are required to pay toll charges using FASTag with this order.
Using FASTag is very simple, a reusable tag that instantly reimburses the toll charges and allows you to make cash transactions through the toll place non-stop. FASTag is connected to a prepaid account that is deducted from the relevant toll number. The tag is made of RFID technology and is attached to the windscreen of the vehicle after activation of the tag account.

FASTag is the perfect solution on national highways for trouble-free travel. FASTag is currently active on national and state highways in 407 toll plazas. In the future, the Fastag network will add more toll plazas.

How to buy and activate your FASTag

FASTags are provided by 22 accredited banks at National Highway toll plazas and select bank branches via various channels such as Point-of-Sale (POS).

Preparations for NHAI have begun. It currently has in its network a total of 537 toll plazas. The remaining toll plaza lanes, with the exception of 17, will be fitted with FASTag by 30 November. There are still other toll plazas being developed. Because of this, the facility of payment of toll tax electronically has not been introduced.

For all vehicles, including buses, cars, jeeps, FASTag will be provided free of charge by 1 December. It is released at Delhi NCR’s 50 petrol pumps. According to Union Road Transport and State Road Minister Nitin Gadkari, this FASTag can also be used to take fuel from airports, shopping malls, petrol pumps. This facility was introduced at the airport in Hyderabad. Apart from this, FASTag can also get a significant discount by paying a parking fee and filling petrol or diesel. Only 7 lakh FASTag were issued in 2017 whereas currently 66 lakh 19 thousand fast tags have been issued.

Will there be a double toll tax from next month?

The government has decided to pay twice the toll for the electronic toll lane for vehicles that do not have FASTag next month.

It could be accessed from all of the state’s RTO offices.

It is also possible to purchase FASTag from online shopping sites like Paytm. Data about FASTag will be obtained from the MyFASTag app and you could reload your FASTag online using this app.

Where would you get the information about FASTag?

FASTag data from the 1033 toll-free number of NHAI and submit a FASTag complaint. 5653 complaints were received on the toll-free number from 8 to 14 November, out of 5653 complaints, a total of 5301 complaints were resolved.

In the country, 28376 FASTag centers were built and 23 banks were added to the FASTag facility.
